Help For Your Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common things which clients come to me to for help. Now, it’s even more present as more people work from home and lead more virtual lifestyles. It’s so important to stay active, keep moving your body and work on body imbalances that lead to chronic pain. Stretching and strengthening through a Pilates program is so beneficial!

Shocking Statistics About Back Pain

  • Up to 80% of the population will experience back pain at some time in their lives. 1
  • 90% of acute low back pain issues are resolved within six weeks. 2
  • Back pain is the third most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office. 3
  • Most cases of back pain are mechanical or non-organic—meaning they are not caused by serious conditions, such as inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture or cancer. 4

How Pilates Helps

  • Pilates helps correct muscle imbalances, which can often be the cause of injuries and back pain.
  • Pilates improves your posture and alignment, which are common causes of chronic pain and injury.
  • Pilates strengthens your abdominal muscles, core stability, pelvic stability and deep postural muscles that support the spine and proper alignment.
  • Pilates teaches you proper body mechanics so you move through daily life in good form to support your spine.
  • Pilates increases body awareness so that you can recognize and let go of movement patterns and habits that are causing stress on your back.
  • Pilates exercises have a stretch and strength component, you are stretching and releasing tight muscles like hamstrings that contribute to back pain while strengthening your body at the same time.

When practiced consistently, you will get stronger, more flexible, improve your posture, and lessen aches and pains in your body
